School Fundraising FAQ’s
(Frequently Asked Questions)
How does the process work?
We are flexible on how you would like the sale to go. There are different ways we can run the sale for you. We try to keep the cost per item down so families will hopefully buy more items. We find the most success when we use the model below:
You answer a few questions about your school. Then you either supply an established design you want on the apparel, or Cozy will help you develop one.
We ask you for a list of teachers by grade and establish an open and close date for the sale.
Cozy will then make the website and ask you to review it and make any changes by adding or deleting products. Once the site is approved, we make it LIVE for your members to order from.
Your job is to promote the sale, including stating when the sale ends, as most of your sales will come in the 24 hours before the sale closes.
You are able to monitor the sale with back-end access to the website, so you can see how the sale is going and how much profit has been generated.
Once the sale closes, we produce all the items together in bulk and then package them individually. The orders are separated by grade and teacher.
We deliver the apparel to the school where the orders are delivered to the class room and the students bring their orders home with them. When we deliver, we will also have a check made out to your organization for your profit from the sale.

Do I need to make my own artwork for the prints?
No, you don’t have to have anything ready. IF you have something or a starting point, great. If not, Cozy can provide some design options for you once we understand the message you want your prints to convey.
We usually like to include your school’s mascot as part of the artwork. If you have any images or likenesses of your school’s mascot, we can certainly update them and incorporate them into the artwork. Some schools will Google image their mascot with “School T-Shirt ideas”.
Sometimes they find a layout they like, and we update it to match your school name and colors.
How long does it take to receive an order?
How can we track the sales performance?
You will have access to view the site to see what items are selling and how much profit has been made. There is also a section to download a flyer that has the products listed with a QR code link to the site.
Why is there a closing date to the sale?
How will the orders be delivered?
Once the site closes and all orders are packed and ready, coordinate with you and the school to deliver the orders. Remember, we can sort orders by grade and classroom because you provided the list used in the website’s checkout process. Each order will then have a grade and a teacher, allowing us to sort by both. Some schools even include the room number along with the grade and teacher name at checkout, so the custodians can drop off the orders for each classroom since Cozy will have them already sorted by classroom.
Can we leave the site open for the entire school year?
We can keep a site open throughout the school year for parents to order at their convenience. However, keeping the site open all year has some disadvantages: there’s no urgency to place an order, each order would need to be shipped to their home, and we wouldn’t be able to offer all the products we can when there is a close date. We’ve found that sales with an end date generate more sales than when families can order whenever they want. Keeping the site open year-round reduces the selection of goods we can offer, and the price per unit will be higher because we aren’t buying in bulk. Some suppliers have minimum order requirements that wouldn’t be met if families only place individual orders during the school year. The family’s cost would also be higher because they would have to pay for shipping to have their order delivered to their home, since we cannot deliver individual orders to the school or wait until enough orders are placed to make delivery feasible.
If you want to offer a year-round option, we suggest doing a sale with set opening and closing dates so families can get the best prices and selection. Afterwards, we can run a smaller sale open all year long, where items are shipped to their homes for a fee, or they can pick up from either our Nutley or Morristown locations at no extra cost.
How do we maximize our profit from the apparel sale?
- If you do not already, ask the school administration if you can have “School Spirit Fridays” for every Friday during the school year. This will entice more people to buy, giving them something school-related to wear every Friday.
- Market the apparel sale to the Faculty and Staff. The teachers and staff are always looking for more ways to connect with the students. Offering business casual items for the staff will allow them to show their support and still maintain their professional look.
- Promote the sale. Make sure you are sending email blasts to the parents when the site opens, in the middle of the sale, two days before the sale ends, and on the last day before the sale ends. Some schools will also post the link to the site on their social media pages.
- Offering some items with just the town name that non-school members of your community may buy to support the school. Of course, you would need to set up a system to get the order from you. Some members will set up a rubber-made box on their doorstep, allowing community members who ordered to pick up their packages without needing to contact them.
